Ing. Ivar H. Böhnsdalen
PUMA’s President 1965-1995
1940’s
Founded in 1944 in Perú 530 street in Buenos Aires by the engineer Adolf Levit, PUMA was specialized in the built of machines for cold-storage industries.
1950’s
Six years later, with the engineer Ivar Böhnsdalen incorporation, PUMA developed in the country the first oil-hydraulic pump-units for high pressure power (350 atm).
From this time up to the building of hydraulic presses was only a step:
- Stuffing Press 1000 ton in 1953.
1960’s
PUMA develops the major hydraulic press in Latin America: Press 10500 ton in 1966.
Engineering department, conceived “36 radial pistons” pumps, up to 104 lts/min flow, and also developed medium and high pressure hydraulic cylinders for all kinds of applications.
During 1968, BAYER AG Germany gave PUMA the VULKOLLAN® license, high performance elastomer for the manufacture of high pressure seals for our hydraulic power- stations.
1970’s
Ending 1973, we obtained historical records in manufactured parts, with 44 power-stations, 47 hydraulic cylinders and 82 hydraulic radial pumps.
Vulkollan® seals not only supplied our hydraulic components, but we started puting these seals on the market and some years later we promoted ca. 150.000 units per year.
During 1978, PUMA started to represent in Argentina, VOLVO Hydraulics pumps & motors from Sweden. Axial piston pumps and motors were provided for naval industry, where VOLVO is world-wide standarized.
1980’s
We started to export hydraulic power-stations for other countries shipyards.
We also began manufacturing car spare-parts in Cellular Vulkollan®, where increased deformability and reduced compression hardness are required, producing ca 18.000 units/month.
1990’s
Beginning the 90s, PUMA exported valve manifolds for special naval applications.
Otherwise, “car industry” strengthened our Polyurethanes & Plastic department, manufacturing all kind of parts for industry in general.
In 1993, we made a market launching for the PT Elastic Couplings, manufactured in Argentina by PUMA with Vulkollan® elastomer part, covering powers from 5 up to 300 HP with 1500 rpm.
In December 9th of 1995, PUMA’s president Ing. Ivar Böhnsdalen, died after 44
years of fruitful dedication for the company.
During 1997, after acquiring VOLVO Hydraulics division, PARKER HANNIFIN gave us all hydraulic compounds representation.
2000’s
Taking advantage from our great representations, we now persist in conceiving high performance engineering projects for the biggest local companies. We strengthen our PT couplings products and Plastics manufactures, exporting high technology parts.
In 2005, PUMA inaugurate the first two PARKER STOREs in Buenos Aires, with the most complete inventory of hose and fitting products in the industry, and distributing all Parker products families.
In 2006, we welcome HÄGGLUNDS from Sweden, trade mark we are going to represent in all the families of “radial piston hydraulic motors”.
